As once so eloquently described, I am a failed professional footballer who fell into teaching. However, falling into teaching was one of the best things ever to happen to me as, although not without its challenges, teaching is one of the most rewarding professions in which no two days are ever the same. My daily currency is the most valuable possession in people’s lives and children never cease to amaze and inspire me. I am currently an Assistant Principal at Kingsthorpe College with responsibility for learning and teaching. I am fiercely passionate about creating a culture of restless excellence in which every teacher is constantly improving an element of their teaching practice. I love to read, whether it is fiction or the latest blog post from one of the leading lights in teaching at the moment. I have an amazing wife and two beautiful children who help to keep me sane even after the most stressful of days. I am also not bad with a football at my feet.
